The AY-GC-WAX is a highly polar, bonded and cross-linked capillary column featuring a polyethylene glycol (PEG) stationary phase. It is widely recognized as the “workhorse” for analyzing polar and oxygenated compounds. Unlike standard non-polar columns that separate primarily by boiling point, providing unique selectivity for alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, and aromatic compounds.

1. Classic Polar PEG Phase
Composition: Polyethylene Glycol (PEG).
Selectivity: Highly polar. Offers superior separation for compounds with hydrogen-bonding capabilities.
2. Exceptional Selectivity for Oxygenates
Specifically designed to resolve complex mixtures of alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, and esters that co-elute on non-polar columns (like DB-1/DB-5).
3. Bonded & Cross-Linked Technology
The stationary phase is chemically bonded and cross-linked to the fused silica surface, making it highly durable and solvent-rinsable to remove non-volatile contaminants.
4. Low-Temperature Capability
Excellent retention of highly volatile polar compounds at lower temperatures, making it ideal for detecting light solvents and fruity esters.
